What is cPanel and why does it matter?
What is cPanel?
Cpanel is a web based hosting control panel. It allows our customers and clients to manage their websites.
How to Log In
If you currently have a hosting account with KWR hosting, you can log into your cPanel account at any time: cPanel login
With cPanel you can:
- Download a backup of your website (that way if something were to ever happen you can restore it to its original state).
- Have administrative controls over your website and email.
- Create a new e-mail address and forward your e-mail to your primary account.
- Do lots of other cool things.
Why does it matter?
It matters because it means you have a legitimate hosting account. Technically, you have full control over your website. Your website can be fully customized on the backend and front end, to support almost any feature you can think of. This is not the case with the major ‘DIY’ providers (Wix, Squarespace, etc). cPanel is the most widely used web hosting control panel, and allows for use of the widest range of technology.
cPanel makes it easier to move to a new server or hosting provider
cPanel makes it a lot easier for us to move your website to a new server (for example, when we upgrade to a new web server), and it also makes it a lot easier for you to transfer your data to a different host if necessary. This is because of the automatic backup and ‘move’ features included with cPanel and WHM. cPanel packages files so that your site and email can be installed on the new server automatically, and function the exact same way as on the previous server.
When you host your website with keepitreal.hosting, you get a full-featured hosting account with your own cPanel. that’s legit. Most of our clients never need to use it, but it gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling just to know that it’s there in case you need it.
